Rijhan Karnataki, a resident of Jhatiyahi VDC, is a social mobilzer at District Development Committee, Dhanusha and has been applying himself day and night to facilitate the poor, excluded and deprived communities in Majhijhitkaiya VDC, a village which has conditions similar to his own VDC, to improve their socio-economic conditions.
Keshab Dagaura, a freed Kamaiya (bonded labourer) from Jhalari VDC-7 in the district, is happy that he has his own house and business. He is working hard to uplift the economic status of his family ever since he was liberated from the Kamaiya system a decade ago.

Kalikatar VDC is considered one of the remotest VDC in Makawanpur district. Deurali village is located in Ward No. 9 of the VDC at the elevation of 1300 meter from the sea level, north from Manahari market centre which is located along East-West Mahendra highway.
Birenda Damai till 2 years ago was mulling to go to India for employment to sustain his family. Father of three sons, Damai was struggling to feed his families with his small tailor shop at Ward No 12, Ayeri of Mahandranagar Municipality. But now he wants to stay back.

Lohar is staying with her younger son after her two sons were separated few years back.
Malati Lama, born in Lalpur VDC-6, Siraha, a Terai district, got married with a guy from Makawanpur, the mid-hill district. Life in Makwanpur for her was harsh as she could hardly manage bread and butter for her children and husband. She had vivid memories of sleepless nights as she could not feed her three daughters, a son and husband, a patient of Tuberculosis and asthma.
The people of Bhadaiya VDC, Siraha were tired of the hardship they have been facing to reach nearby Lahan bazzar for years. It took hours to reach the bazaar.
Guara is an isolated settlement from the nearest bazaar. The villagers have to walk around 2 and ½ hrs daily to the bazaar for various purposes. In the rainy season, it is the most difficult days for the villagers since they have to cross the river, Soia Khola which is often flooded. Further, the children from the village have to cross the river while going to school which is near the bazaar. Years ago, a child from the same village died while going to school crossing the river. Since then, they don't send their children in rainy season.
Guara is an isolated settlement in Kapilbastu District. The villagers have to walk around two and half hours daily to reach the nearest bazaar. It's even worse during the rainy season, as they have to cross the Soia Khola which is often flooded.
For Kamala Tamang, life is full of colour. Tamang, secretary of Batabaran thatha Grimin Bikas Sastha, ,Devisthan, Khaniyapani VDC -5 , Ramechhap is now earning Rs 1500-2000 monthly from sewing cutting business.
Life was not easy for her till few years back.
